#IVACS2024 was such a blast. Not only because of the high quality of the plenaries & papers, but also because the @IVACS2024 community is such a kind & welcoming one. Huge thanks to the organisers for a fantastic event.
We even managed to have a little Kuwaiti reunion 🤗
A great plenary talk by @GelMMark @IVACS2024 this morning: how to meaningfully compare corpora - perhaps one of the most important questions in the field!

@WriteStuffChris presenting research by the group (see pic for titles & auths) on the management of virtual meetings.
One tl;dr is that meetings contain more silences when there is no chair, another is that questions beginning with any* are freq followed by silence.

#IVACS2024 is just around the corner!
We are very excited to have two brilliant plenary speakers at IVACS.
Dr. Geraldine Mark will deliver a plenary titled: 'Shall I compare thee to the BNC? Some thoughts on corpora and comparison'
The first two papers in a special issue of Research in Corpus Linguistics I’m editing - on the theme of innovation in spoken corpora - have been published!

Delighted to get my copy of “Linguistics across Disciplinary Borders: the March of data.” Great to contribute to this volume with the @IVOhub team, looking at Twitter/X references to working from home from a multi-modal perspective.
From the archives. Hommage à Geneviève Bordet, chercheuse au grand cœur, qui nous a quittés. À découvrir ou re-découvrir, sa belle contribution à notre compréhension des rapports entre traduction spécialisée et corpus. 🖤
