Very interesting case of island miniaturisation - where a small area can’t support larger versions of an animal species so it decreases in size by natural selection.
Researchers have sequenced the first-ever ancient DNA from the tiny elephants that used to live on Sicily. It has revealed how their giant ancestors rapidly shrunk in size, shedding at least 8,000kg - or 85% of their weight - over just 20 generations 🐘 nhm.ac.uk/discover/news/2021…

A star is born! 🌟 Though our galaxy is an immense city of stars, what we know about newly forming stars largely remains a mystery. The results of a comprehensive @NASAHubble survey are leaving astronomers puzzled. Dive into the details: go.nasa.gov/2QpK0LF

I’ve uploaded my Rosenshine’s Principles CPD booklet to my google drive (link in pinned tweet) ☺️ Thanks to @teacherhead @olicav and @KateJones_teach for writing such great books that hugely help to bridge the gap between educational research and application to the classroom! 👏🏼

May have to look in the recycling and give this a go....
Activity: Make a "mini greenhouse" and plant some seeds! 🌱 Did you know that today is national Plant a Flower Day? 🌷 The team at Belfast Zoo have had great success repurposing plastic bottles for planting vegetable and flower seeds. ♻️ #PlantAFlowerDay #KeepBelfastRecycling

Interesting thread on how beaks are adapted to different foods:
