Your brokerage shows you an ETF's name, expense ratio, and a top-10 list. The SEC makes the issuer file the entire portfolio every quarter (N-PORT) and an operational census every year (N-CEN). We parsed both for $SPY and $VOO. What your fund card hides 🧵 #ETFs

4/ Flip the lens: which funds hold $NVDA? 2,042 of them across the SEC universe. VTI, VOO, FXAIX, IVV, SPY at the top, NVDA is ~6-8% of each. If you hold a few "diversified" index funds, you may own more NVIDIA than you think.

3/ $SPY vs $VOO, the two funds everyone treats as identical: 476 holdings shared 27 unique to SPY, 30 unique to VOO ~97% overlap by weight That ~3% sliver is the whole thing you're choosing between. Computed per-CUSIP off raw N-PORT, not guessed from sector charts.

2/ $SPY is the "US large-cap" fund. By issuer domicile it's ~97% US. The other ~3% registers in Ireland, Switzerland, Bermuda, the Netherlands (Accenture, Aon, Linde...). Most fact-sheets round that to "US." The N-PORT doesn't.

1/ $VOO vs the S&P 500 in 2025, straight from Form N-CEN: Gross of fees: trailed the index by 0.4 bps. Net of fees: 16.9 bps. Gross, it's a near-perfect mirror. The slippage is almost all on the cost side, not replication. That decomposition is on no fact-sheet.

"Who are this company's peers?" is one of the most common questions in equity research, and one of the worst-served by data APIs. Most providers have no peers endpoint at all. The one that does returns a bare list of tickers: no revenue, no ranking, often empty. So we built a good one. Ask for $NVDA and you get the chip complex ranked by revenue scale, each peer carrying its revenue and reporting currency. The names an analyst would actually reach for, in one call. $AVGO $INTC $AMD $MU $TSM /api/company/peers, live now: developer.stockfit.io/blog/c…

solo founder. bootstrapped. no vc. just shipped a financial api with something no other api has: a per-fact, per-amendment audit trail. if a company filed 391B revenue and restated to 391.2B 3 months later, my api returns both, with the dates. free tier. live now.

your backtest is lying to you. when a 10-K gets amended a month later, most fundamentals apis silently overwrite the original number. your sim now trades on corrected revenue weeks before the market saw it. i found one that ships the audit trail per fact, with the before value on every restatement. it's free.
