When I talk about minimally coupled, yes, they are coupled. But a lot of effort and thinking has gone into making sure they aren't more coupled than they have to be. It's good enough that it still should be pretty easy to swap out modules for equivalents.

This is a big part of what makes @straticjs tick. @gulpjs is the platform that provides framing centered around files in the most minimal way possible.
