I contributed to this @Telegraph piece on high functioning #autism by @DrDavidACox with @Bec_Flower & Rachel Moseley. Despite the title the article is well written, especially the bit highlighting issues with functioning labels. Let me know what you think! telegraph.co.uk/health-fitne…

Barriers to neurodivergent children & young people accessing support includes disjointed support pathways & communication between service providers; lack of staff training &/or confidence; risks or negative effects from transitioning between services; under-funding of services
Some evidence suggests neurodivergent conditions, such as autism, are being identified more in the UK. Our new POSTnote considers support for neurodivergent children and young people in healthcare and education in England, and barriers to accessing support:post.parliament.uk/research-…

I thoroughly recommend reading this paper on improving mental healthcare for autistic adults. It's one of the best projects I've been involved in - thank you @VasoTotsika for linking me up with the research team at UCL! #autism #autistic #mentalhealth cambridge.org/core/journals/…

1. #Passion. I worked really hard to get myself into a job I feel really passionate about, which includes my key interests - before I worked in #Neurodiversity and #trauma I had way less enjoyment in my job and often felt lost or bored.
#MySLTday there was a "Neurodiversity Questionnaire" sent around to staff today to "capture staff experience of #Neurodiversity in the #workplace". As a member of the team with #ADHD I think I'll share some of my experiences (good and bad) of being in a primarily NT team...

Being #neurodivergent has many benefits to conducting research, such as intense attention (for things that interest me!), attention to detail, a strong sense of justice, and a desire to improve the world for other neurodivergent people.
