Here are the details at the start of the project: - $10,000/month cloud spend - Extensive use of logging via App Insights - A few people tried to solve the issue without success - That's where I come in to solve the problem for good Azure has a helpful cost breakdown view to track spending. But it wasn't giving me much information. I spent a solid week researching potential issues. - Volume of logging - Different log levels - Configuration settings The end solution was tragically funny. Someone left on Azure SQL query logging. And when you log a few million SQL queries daily to cloud storage... Your costs skyrocket also. I flipped a switch, and... We went from $10,000/month → $ 1,500/month. That's an 85% cost reduction. Which resulted in $100k /year in total savings. Let that sink in!
