What was my reaction when I found out our state gem is actually a fossil? Well, at first I was afraid, I was petrified.

These Highland cattle in Ben’s forest are helping to open up some of the vegetation and improve habitat for Capercaillie & other woodland species. A similar job to the Bison in Kent, but without the very expensive fence and with less media coverage.

"A new vision for the land. The logger, forester & former mayor believed that, if the town bought the forest, it could thin & burn unwanted foliage to cultivate open groves of old-growth trees resilient to wildfire and drought." #TalkingForests #forestry insideclimatenews.org/news/0…

White spongy moth (Lymantria dispar) females are flightless (despite their wings) and attract the gray males using pheromones. The egg masses are sort of sponge-like (hence the common name). This #invasivespecies is one of the biggest #foresthealth pests in North America.

How do you reclaim a forest from a #bamboo invasion? Hopefully we’ll find out because @ClemsonWeedSci, @FNRClemson’s Janet Steele, and I are about to embark on a management trial for this #invasivespecies. Can you burn it? Herbicides? How much will it cost? We’ll let you know!

The Olympic Peninsula has been home to me and travel into Canada 🇨🇦 from this area is really beautiful 😍. I am documenting the @MalahatSkywalk today, which fits the older wooden treewalk European 🇪🇺 series from 2019 😀 #TalkingForests #Travel #Canada #Trees #Wood

Forget-me-not fun fact: the yellow ring at the flower’s centre fades to white after pollination, signalling to insects there’s no more nectar. The insects therefore learn to visit the flowers that haven’t yet been pollinated, ensuring no forget-me-not flower is forgotten 🤙
