It’s very difficult being an introverted educator because you have to force yourself to be “on” every day. Almost every aspect of your work involves doing the thing that requires most of your energy - interacting with people.
I’ve seen this quote everywhere—and as a bilingual myself, I must partially disagree.
YES! Being bilingual ISN’T a barrier —
But, having an accent is a challenge & thinking in a different lang first is a complication.
We struggle—But is our GREATEST asset.#LanguageMatters#MLs
Reaching the “hard to reach” students is not about having the right strategy… it’s about having the right heart. It’s a passion for connecting with kids.
In Todd Whitaker’s book “What Great Teachers Do Differently,” he states “Great teachers have high expectations for students, but have even higher expectations for themselves.” As educators, we must self-reflect and evaluate our own performance.
Some kids have drama at home, drama on the bus, and drama in the hall. It’s great when classrooms can be a safe haven for students. That's something teachers can create... but it doesn't happen by accident.
getting ready for #Term4 • #Christmas baubles for my classroom tree ☺️🎄 • Nov-Dec #behaviourmanagement: Ss doing the right thing will be asked to place one bauble on our tree; if all baubles in this box are placed on the tree, all Ss will receive a Christmas present
Whether your Ss are sharing a question or offering an answer, how do you show them that their voices are always welcome in your classroom?
