I normally do not post about personal matters on here, but my father passed away last week, and on the night of his death, three individuals broke into his apartment and stole everything he owned, including his will. We obtained video evidence from his residence showing these individuals stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of property, including cash, jewelry, firearms, signed sports memorabilia, my father’s car, and his will. These individuals even went so far as to dress up and impersonate my father in order to gain access to the apartment. Local law enforcement was notified immediately, yet no meaningful action has been taken. Despite my family locating the suspects’ residence and providing police with audio and video evidence of the break-in, theft, and impersonation of my deceased father, no arrests have been made. As if this were not horrific enough, one of the three suspects fraudulently registered an insurance policy in my father’s name and proceeded to visit his banks, where they withdrew every dollar he had. I have been dealing with this privately since December 1st, but at this point, I am asking for help. If anyone has advice on how to compel law enforcement to take action and arrest those responsible, please let me know. Because of this situation, we were not even able to give my father a proper burial. They stole everything, including his will. We have reported all of this to the Surrogate’s Office, but so far, no one has provided meaningful assistance. It has been absolutely devastating for myself and my family.
