NEWS: The US State Department has signed a two-year deal with Starlink for disaster response worldwide.
The Memorandum of Understanding puts Starlink's satellites to work restoring communications when disasters knock out the ground network.
The State Department's Bureau of Disaster and Humanitarian Response will coordinate with Starlink to get emergency responders, aid groups and people in need back online fast.
"Communication can mean the difference between life and death," the department said.
