I was honourably invited to speak by the Attorney General for India to speak in a Law and Technology Conference by the Commonwealth Legal Education Association. It was an honour representing @IndianSocietyAI. :) LiveLaw has recorded the complete session. The video containing my talk will be out shortly.

Folks, so this is what happened. I was going to speak on Case Management and Judicial Best Practices around Digital Tech and Responsible AI in CLEA's International Conference on Law and Technology, 2024 alongside judges etc. Humbly speaking, it was unexpected when Justice M Sundar, Madras HC referred to my AI bill, aiact.in and discussed forms of AI classification I had proposed. I just shared this video because many of my well-wishers, friends etc., were happy to know about my CLEA update. Here's the complete video. 🙏

@sama has already crossed the line when it comes to not being candid or honest about AI governance and economics. This explains so much about the nuance not to outrightly ban AI but to curate a path to standardise it independently. To enable a sense of understanding, @VLiGTA has come up with 3 advanced artificial intelligence and law training programmes by @IndicPacific. Honestly, it took me 4 months to prepare based on my experience at @IndianSocietyAI and I really hope it was worth it. Have a look at the programmes: 1️⃣ Level 1 - Artificial Intelligence and Law Fundamentals [6-week Access (Self-paced), 50 Model Exercises, Lecture Notes of 280 pages]: indicpacific.com/challenge-p… 2️⃣ Level 2 - Artificial Intelligence and Intellectual Property Law [12-week Access (Self-paced), 30 Case studies, Lecture Notes of 400 pages]: indicpacific.com/challenge-p… 3️⃣ Level 3 - Artificial Intelligence and Corporate Governance [15-week Access (Self-paced), 80 Model Exercises, 25 Case studies Lecture Notes of 400 pages]: indicpacific.com/challenge-p…

In short - there are two key issues in India's "AI" ecosystem. First - there is no attempt to document and standardise AI use cases. A lot of trust is being superimposed on Indian and foreign IT companies without taking into account that for India to become an "AI use case" capital of the world, it has to standardise and document these AI use cases. Second - no regulation is happening immediately. Nobody is going to come with stringent regulations in India, because most use cases in India are half-baked and need a healthy regulatory and economic environment to even survive. You obviously cannot kill the AI industry before it even starts. This is exactly where the @IndianSocietyAI comes in. We engage with tech startups and professionals to standardise their use cases. Yes - we prioritise startups and MSMEs because they are the most risk-averse category of businesses in the AI ecosystem in India. Big IT companies may handle losses and issues attributable to their use cases and their commercial viability. However, an MSME, an AI & computer sciences student and a start-up needs to be taken in confidence that their use cases will be protected by law, as well as standardised to enable market integrity. Know more at isail.in/team. I am also working on a set of training tools and programmes on AI and Law for everyone. Those tools will be released in the coming weeks and months. Stay tuned (cc @VLiGTA).

Okay folks, I am glad to continue my engagements on #AI, #publicpolicy, #tech and #IndoPacific. First, I had the opportune to attend the Groundbreaking Ceremony 4.0 organised by the Uttar Pradesh Government under its Invest UP banner. I will provide an honest and respectful take of how the event really was. I came across some amazing use cases of artificial intelligence in fields like: 1. #agriculture - like Kisan e-Mitra offered by PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana - with a chatbot powered by Wadhwani AI to address concerns of farmers. 2. #mentalhealth - an AI-powered Voice Lab by Manodyam supported by IIT Kanpur - and their use cases are very stable. Their goals seem to be reasonable and not hyped, which makes them credible. They claim they have done pilot testing, and I wish best for their product launch. 3. #chakbandiai by the Uttar Pradesh Government - as they had displayed in the ET Vision AI Conclave in November 2023. The Proof of Concept calls are over and the digitised use of chakbandi using AI tools by the government is now happening to resolve property ceiling-related legal disputes, and for effective documentation of lands and properties. 4. #spacetech - Take Me 2 Space and Blu Ocean have partnered for a space research & development satellite initiative where using spectrometer, they'd be conducting research on #vitamins and #nutrients. That is a good thing to reckon for. There are some honourable mentions for an AI startup incubated by IIIT Lucknow for their AI "schauffer" which can be helpful for premium hospitality chains and some drone start-ups as well. I wish the best to them. Ricky Kej's performances have been a cherry at the top for sure. Now - on their AI strategy, what it looks is that they are partnering on some genuine public sector use cases in land records, agriculture, accessibility and prison surveillance and general surveillance (for example in Lucknow city). However, from a private sector end, their AI Conclave was disappointing because the major centres of excellence or private sector investments and even commitments are only or largely happening in Delhi NCR, i.e., Western Uttar Pradesh, i.e., Meerut, Noida, Ghaziabad etc. What they should have focused was not just about partnering on AI-related public sector use cases with major players, but also about how to nurture genuine AI start-ups and industrial networks in West and Central UP. This is why I find Deloitte's "Lucknow as an AI City" a bit confusing. Lucknow cannot outcompete Delhi or Noida, let alone Hyderabad, or Bengaluru because research institutions like IIIT-Allahabad, IIT Kanpur and IIIT-Lucknow cannot do enough. Still, it was not a waste of time. Glad to met some friends and known faces as usual.

Alright folks. #Multipolarity has been a talk of the town among Indian diplomacy enthusiasts for a long time. However, very few people have tried to understand and unfurl how multipolarity works. Hence this first infographic report by @VLiGTA on the Policy Purpose of a Multipolar World. Special thanks to @adityajakki for his insights. Yes, even in Lucknow you need a concerted intervention by the Union Govt. UP Govt is anyways run properly by the bureaucrats and the CM, not the rest of the political class. The cluelessness of policy impact ideas or decision processing and the lack of an ORF in Lucknow is a big reason why Uttar Pradesh never thought beyond too. Patronage and vision both are needed. Centre is to be blamed but then even UP Government across terms have been clueless. That's why @PeakLKO, @VLiGTA and @IndianSocietyAI

tier i cities are a function of GOI's patronage in one way or another. only Hyderabad is the exception i guess

Bam! October, November and December are getting to be the most proactive months on Artificial Intelligence and Law. Really gotta lot of work to do😂. All I can say with my team at @VLiGTA I am developing a proposal for a Reinvented National AI Strategy for India and responsive proposals on the AI frameworks developed by US, EU and China to draft an AI Bill for India. The only hint we have is “technology-neutrality” which matters here. Interesting times for @IndianSocietyAI and @VLiGTA. cc @RupakChatto @priyankchn @adityajakki

Folks, it is with great pleasure that I release VLiGTA-TR-004, Reinventing & Regulating Policy Use Cases of Web3 for India. Glad to have co-authored with the talented Sanad Arora and Akash Manwani. In this report, we do not claim blockchain is going to be a saviour technology of sorts. We believe that the technology itself can be harnessed under India’s DPI if used wisely. We propose use cases of Web3 in the following areas for India’s public sector: - Zero-knowledge taxes - Data Portability - Voting - Supply Management - Decentralised Exchanges (DEXs) for Government-to-Government Transactions Know more about the report at: indicpacific.com/post/new-re… Link to the complete report at: vligta.app/product/reinventi…
