Anyone else notice #PuertoRico was censored when they mentioned #statehood during the #DNC2024?

We are organizing a member petition in sociology to address the gruesome violence in Gaza. We got almost double the # of signatories to get it on the ballot in spring. Here are more details on where we are! Follow @soc4pal to stay in the loop!
UPDATE: In response to the ASA statement failing to call for ceasefire we drafted a "Resolution for Justice in Palestine" that we hope all ASA members will be able to vote on this spring. Yesterday we submitted a petition to get it on the ballot with 581 names /

Ride-hailing service Lyft said Friday that its U.S. medical benefits plan includes coverage for “elective abortion and reimbursement for travel costs” if an employee must travel more than 100 miles for an in-network provider. wapo.st/3A4qbhI

While this is an obvious point, we should not rely on corporations to provide and protect our basic human rights. 6/6

P.S. This goes without saying (but should be said anyways) that all of this is and will be racialized. When it comes to tech companies, the full-time-benefit-having workforce is largely white. The contingent workforce is mostly Black and other people of color. 7/6
