claim, o God, into thy perfect care & keeping, the souls of the slain— bless survivors with safety healing endurance, with peace… with life, with hope. Amen.

Good God, of thy mercy, call & guide us to peace— summon leaders to deescalate aggression & declare & maintain ceasefire— stop the killing of thy vulnerable children. Amen.

This thread right here… A clear explanation of how libraries actually function in this society. Not some bullshit being propagated by a politician with a penchant for punching down. ⬇️

Some players do everything so well that they fly a bit under the radar. Here is one player @Lyons_Baseball that college coaches should have their eyes on this season. Not only is @patrick30890377 a talented & versatile player, but he is a solid individual as well.
Patrick Engels catches on wherever he plays. But the Lyons senior is the catcher this season. He’s home again. @GreggVoss has the story. @Pioneer_Press #TribSuburbanSports @patrick30890377 @Lyons_Baseball @LTHS_Athletics @LTHS_D204 @JG025025 @FreddieRags chicagotribune.com/suburbs/l…

Hey Lin, Lin here. Not really on here anymore, but signed in when I heard about your passing. Our chats were always one of the bright spots. Grateful for you. Hope you are feeling how much your city and fans love you and will miss you, wherever you are. ❤️❤️❤️ -LMM @LinBrehmer

Lovely thread about the importance of connection, patience and reading.
I said goodbye to a patient a few years ago. She didn’t die, she just got old. I treat patients to age 21 and they move on. When they do, I joke, “well, I did my job! I kept you alive until adulthood!” With this kid, it was not a joke. 1/

This, from @JamesMartinSj, is great: Seven things to say frequently: I love you. Thank you. Thank you, God. Forgive me. I'm so happy for you! Why not? Yes. Note to self, say these and do these more! :)

Today marks my 20th anniversary of becoming a parent. Grateful for this reminder of the power and privilege that comes with this job.
Parenting is power, and it’s also a privilege. I’m grateful for anyone who comes along and reminds us to wield it with grace and love and humanity. In this moment, that’s Dr. Becky. My column. chicagotribune.com/lifestyle…

Incredibly grateful for these resources and this commitment to mental health at Alabama. Roll Tide!
.@AlabamaFTBL places an emphasis on mental health, which has helped players like QB @_bryce_young. "Just having those resources and knowing that this isn't a place where I'll get judged for it. ... You're not gonna be looked at as differently. ... It's okay to not be okay."

Today, my list of best athletes ever would have Ali number one, maybe Thorpe at 2. But if you were asking who had the best CAREER in sports history, taking into account length and consistency from start to finish, it’s Serena & then LeBron. She’s that mighty. All hail the Queen.

The level of mismanagement by @united at its European gateways is astonishing. It is the airlines — not passengers, not airport operators — causing this mayhem.

Local elections matter. Get out and vote.
27 Jun 2022
I've been asked what specific local & state elections matter a lot in the wake of Dobbs, & what concretely they'd affect. With the caveats that the next steps need to involve mobilization, solidarity, & protests that aren't electorally focused, here are some thoughts. ↓
