In the United States, as many as 1 in 20 children has a fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD). This makes #FASD more common than #BirthDefects like spina bifida, anencephaly, and trisomy 18. FASD is also more common than autism, which affects 1 in 59 children.

“Inclusion isn’t forcing children with diverse needs to conform to the accepted norm. Until we shift that mindset, we will continue to send the message to children that they just aren’t worthy; they just don’t make the cut. And that’s a problem we all own.”

We can’t accurately weigh the merits of inclusive education until we actually commit to doing it right. That responsibility is on us, not our kids. My editorial for the @globeandmail . #inclusion #inclusiveeducation #Autism #cdnpoli #NSpoli theglobeandmail.com/opinion/…

It was a delight to present at the @POPFASD district partner day yesterday. Amazing people doing great work. I shared some ideas about supporting students transitioning to adulthood. ...actually these ideas apply to all students at any stage. 😊 Download: northstarpaths.com

POPFASD has been busy this week educating educators on how to support our learners with FASD! Meredith Keery is in Victoria working with a wonderful group of 24 Learning Support Teachers as they participate in their first "FIRST" training! #sd61learn #inclusivelearning #FASD

The classroom library should NOT be organized according to level, but according to categories such as topic, author, illustrator, genre, and award-winning books. #FPLiteracy

This photo should be on the front page of every paper in the country. Fire fighters curled up on the ground in the back yard of the house they just saved the night before, resting up for the next shift in their battle with the #CarrFire.

As teachers, this is a good reminder, even as we approach the last two weeks of school: ❌ "I wasn't trained for this." To: ✅ "Where can I learn more?" Anyone willing to share some "growth mindset" experiences from the 2017-18 school year? #SelfReg
