Revisionist nonsense. Older works like Dunbine existed, but modern isekai came out of Narou after Familiar of Zero popularised the template. It didn't suddenly stop being good because it targeted men, the boom was built around that audience from day one.
Isekai kind of stopped to be cool when they started to target men as their audience.

Isekai today is a web novel phenomenon that was mostly based on rpg gaming culture and was influenced by zero no tsukima most of these so-called shoujo isekai had a little to no influence in modern isekai most of them don’t have that much of a big legacy

Maybe because I’m not part of the LGBT movement, but I seriously don’t get why queers are so obsessed with realism like in anime het romance would include love interests, who are aliens or gods and hetros are happy with that but God forbid a yuri or BL isn’t accurate
They dislike actual gay men, genuine intimacy, and realistic relationships. They dismiss male friendship and platonic love, yet glorify sexualized or abusive dynamics between men. Then they enter gay spaces and insist they're allies.
