I’m currently at the City of Chicago Committee on Finance, where decisions are being made on how billions of taxpayer dollars are allocated across our city departments. Mr. Blakemore had something to say.Every citizen who pays taxes in Chicago deserves clear, real-time transparency on how their money is being spent, not just reports after the fact or confusing budget language that most people never get to see. This is public money. It belongs to the people. Whether it’s water, infrastructure, public safety, or city services, taxpayers should be able to follow every dollar from collection to spending.
