SpaceX has officially announced that @Starlink now has over 12 million active customers, up from 10.2M in March 2026 and 9M last December. Starlink added a record ~27,700 new customers on average per day since they hit 10.2 million customers. The first Starlink version 3 satellites are expected to launch later this year, which will bring gigabit connectivity, a 20X in capacity and a massive increase in bandwidth.

The moat for @SpaceX may be one of the strongest in business history -
$ASTS is having a rough day after Blue Origin’s New Glenn exploded during a static fire test at LC-36. Important to call out that no AST SpaceMobile satellite was on the rocket since this was a test firing with no payload. So the near-term launch catalyst hasn't changed with BB8, BB9 and BB10 still expected to launch in mid-June on a SpaceX Falcon 9. The issue is the 2026 deployment schedule since AST needs multiple launch providers to hit its target of 45 satellites in orbit by the end of 2026 and New Glenn was expected to be a key part of that launch cadence. Blue Origin was already dealing with an FAA investigation into the April second-stage failure which had introduced some uncertainty into this year’s launch plan but last night’s explosion adds a much larger problem because LC-36 is currently Blue Origin’s only operational New Glenn launch pad. If the pad suffered significant damage (probably did) New Glenn’s return-to-service timeline will stretch meaningfully making it harder for AST to hit its 2026 satellite deployment target under the current launch plan. Thats why the stock is selling off since AST can pursue additional launch providers over time but new launch diversification does not fully solve a near-term 2026 timing issue.

Only one chance in this lifetime… Like watching sunset at the beach from the most foreign seat in the cosmos, I couldn’t resist a cell phone video of Earthset. You can hear the shutter on the Nikon as @Astro_Christina is hammering away on 3-shot brackets and capturing those exceptional Earthset photos through the 400mm lens. @AstroVicGlover was in window 3 watching with @Astro_Jeremy next to him. I could barely see the Moon through the docking hatch window but the iPhone was the perfect size to catch the view…this is uncropped, uncut with 8x zoom which is quite comparable to the view of the human eye. Enjoy.

The inside of an LNG carrier: 1.2mm of stainless steel between 174,000 cubic meters of liquid cooled to -162°C and the ocean. At that temperature, flat steel contracts hard enough to crack its own welds within minutes. The waffle pattern stamped into each panel gives the metal room to shrink in every direction without tearing apart. A French company designed this system. It is installed in 80% of the world's LNG fleet, with over 300 new carriers under construction. Every one of them relies on a sheet of steel thinner than a car key, folded into the right shape.

Despite all of its agricultural production, California has the third-highest grocery bills in the country, behind only Hawaii and Alaska, states that have their own unique food transportation costs and challenges. What’s more, California grocery inflation is rising faster than the overall cost of living; California groceries are 26 percent costlier over five years, as the overall cost of living rose 23 percent. nationalreview.com/the-morni…

€30mm is like the seed round of a company you’ve never heard of in silicon valley on any given day. So funny -
In France, we believe in science. That is why, on May 5, I issued a clear and open call to the world: for science, choose France. I am very proud to see that this call has resonated so strongly. Around forty leading researchers have chosen France. Through “France 2030”, we have invested more than €30 million to advance health, climate action, artificial intelligence, and fundamental sciences. Science has found its home.

One of the easiest wins for America would be to get union money out of politics. Unions should not be able to make political donations. Huge conflicts there.

Really fun hanging out with @jason and the @twistartups team for a talk at Founder University in Tokyo!
