๐ง Week 1 Round-up: Dewsbury and Batley improvement works ๐
Almost straight off the back of work throughout May, our TRU West Alliance team have taken to the tracks and stations for another series of upgrade works. ๐ช
In Dewsbury, footbridge strengthening works are underway while we also improve customer facilities by extending the roof canopies. Platform extension work is also being carried out which means longer trains with more seats will be able to stop at the station in the future. ๐
In Batley, we're infilling the old subway which was used to move between platforms. Now, a brand-new footbridge takes its place with work on the lifts ongoing for improved step-free access around the station.
In just the first week of work we've renewed 0.7km of track, completed drainage works in Morley tunnel, and installed 14 overhead line equipment (OLE) masts, which will all support faster, more reliable, electrified services. ๐ ๏ธ
Working alongside our Northern and TransPennine Express colleagues, customers have been kept on the move via diversionary routes - which TRU has invested ยฃ100m into - and rail replacement buses. It's been a huge collaborative effort from everyone across the TRU Enterprise this week as we deliver a better connected North to help support our regional economy. ๐
