resharing this again for anyone who missed it earlier; I have learned SO MUCH from the people in this group, and I'm very glad that we're starting up again after our summer break
...and pinging @theapepperl and @MiaZamoraPhD in particular for the beauty of constrained writing :-)

We each wrote a poem based on George Lyonโs poem โWhere Iโm Fromโ and then picked our favourite line to make a whole-class poem. This is where we are from!
Hmm... might show this as a case study for patent searches. Anybody have other examples of vintage artifacts where some provenance could be determined through patent search?
I've been using Mendeley Desktop daily for years, & have an annotated library of thousands of pdfs. Today, I switched to Zotero. Here's a ๐งตof tips on how to do this, if you're also tired of Elsevier's BS and want to make the switch w/minimal effort while maintaining workflow.

Hear @AsaoBInoue read โAssessing so That People Stop Killing Each Otherโ from Hybrid Teaching: Pedagogy, People Politics.
Iโm grateful for his generous permission to reprint the piece, as well as his time recording this version. anchor.fm/hybrid-teaching/epโฆ

It doesnโt take a title to make you a leader.
If you are challenging the status quo, trying something new, or working to create change, that is leadership and it means you are a leader.

I'm disturbed by the Philippine elections, not even so much the election results, but the way in which the term "unity" is becoming weaponized. It's evoking that same "if you're not with us, you're against us" vibe from the so-called "golden era".

.@erinmanalo: What advice do you have for public health students to navigate academic-community partnerships?
'Asena Taione-Filihia: The community knows best! When in doubt, check in with those who have been on the frontlines in the work.

ALT EMP: What advice do you have for public health students to navigate academic-community partnerships? ATF: The community knows best! When in doubt, check in with those who have been on the frontlines in the work.
ALT ATF: Because I work in the institution, I can advocate for more structure and help educate our institution about how our community views, our experiences, various practices, etc. Being aware of our position when working within the academic spaces and community partnerships should give us a better perspective on what we can advocate for within academia or on the institution end to better serve our community.
ALT EMP: If there was one word to describe what this month means to you as a community health advocate, what word would you pick and why? ATF: Narratives. I appreciate hearing the diverse narratives, especially marginalized narratives within our APIDA community. I appreciate the opportunities to learn from one another.

The first 6 yrs of my life was in the Philippines under the Marcos dictatorship. I remember regularly hearing about people getting โsalvagedโ - kidnapped, tortured, killed, & left on the streets. As a 6 yr-old, I thought that was just normal, like thatโs just how the world works.
