Working with systems is more than writing code, it is generation of Active Knowledge. In this article, I describe the concept and how it can be used to impact organizational decision-making. stayrelevant.globant.com/en/…

Replying to @toddlmontgomery
@toddlmontgomery discusses lessons learned in designing systems, especially those based on replicated state machines, that need to continue operating. Couldn't make it to #QConSF? You can still attend the conference online at #QConPlus: bit.ly/3CHZhfo

I would pay to watch @TimJDillon break down tweets from @lilduval - with Duval on the podcast to elaborate. These men are not comedians, they’re modern day philosophers.
When the world moves away from shallow hot takes, there’s going to be a lot of blue check marks up for grabs.

I once wrote a book on testing. @martinfowler recently mentioned it on his website. (Thank you Martin) It's freely available to all: leanpub.com/wewut

Shame about covid killing @OpenTable ; I've been a fan for years. But, at this time in the world, I'm not sure how they survive if this is their approach towards their customers.
I'm not against Trump. I'm not against Biden. I'm against pretending these are the 2 best choices.

Remember when we loved people despite their imperfections because: "Grandpa was in WW2" or "Grandma lived through the depression". I wonder if we'll find some tolerance after we live through this.

If we are still around for elections, I'm voting for whoever adds this to their platform: the max age at which you can be (re)elected president is 60. (any govt office?) Does anyone believe that they will be at their best, mentally and/or physically, in their late 60s and above?

Amazon is now selling Refactoring 2nd Ed on Kindle martinfowler.com/books/refac… Currently they are discounting the hardback but not the kindle edition, so the former is a little cheaper. (Seems odd to me too.)

Haha nor do I. To each their own is kinda of my point. If you force an entire team to use X, given a team of size greater than 3(?) you've slowed someone down. And some tools are better for some people. The forced standardization is the issue (imo), not the tool or process.
I don't want to start an editor war. Each to their own ;-) Diversity is good.

Copies of timestamps on files on High Sierra on #APFS are truncating to microseconds, including «cp -p source destination». Joy. #macOS

Meeting @joebeef last Saturday was definitely the highlight of this Montreal trip. Great guy and everyone should feel good about supporting his restaurants.

A "manual vs automated" decision based solely on "time spent" ignores the leverage of automation, often providing a suboptimal ROI.
