City of Austin now requires that all new homes install an electric car charger.
Easy $1,500 price increase to all new homes when the market doesn’t demand it.

This is misleading. The City of Austin’s Energy Code requires one EV-capable, EV-ready, or EVSE space per dwelling unit for new one- and two-family homes (and townhouses) with on-site parking. It does not require installing a full electric car charger.
