There are a LOT of accounts on both extreme sides blaming the tragic death of Kyle Busch on either the COVID vaccine or COVID itself.
Both are making claims without evidence.
Kyle Busch died of pneumonia that progressed into sepsis. Unfortunately this is nothing new or uncommon.
While we don't have confirmation on whether he was even vaccinated for COVID we do have data on sepsis & COVID itself.
Despite the claims by dishonest accounts, there is no convincing evidence that COVID‑19 is driving a massive or ongoing rise in sepsis in 2026.
A Lancet Global Health study published in October 2025 confirmed that in 2020-2021 there WAS a surge in sepsis cases attributed to COVID in the USA.
This surge was driven largely by COVID‑19 acting as an acute infectious disease that can cause viral sepsis & septic shock, similar to severe influenza and bacterial pneumonia, rather than by long‑term immune dysregulation.
And importantly, the data shows it has since REVERSED.
In France, sepsis rates in 2022 fell below 2018–2019 levels after the pandemic spike.
In the U.S., sepsis‑related excess mortality declined sharply from March 2022 to March 2023 after the pandemic rise.
In the UK, sepsis‑coded admissions and mortality actually fell during the pandemic and then returned to pre‑pandemic levels, without continuing to rise after 2022.
The fact that sepsis rates fell back as acute COVID‑19 severity declined in these countries is strong evidence that COVID‑19 is not currently driving a widespread, increase in sepsis, even though it can still contribute to sepsis deaths like many viruses.
Can we stick to facts and not speculate over tragic deaths before the bodies are even buried?
