My first public outage (which got customers emailing me!!) Here's the conclusion of the story
Replying to @thewritingdev
So I realised, even Cloudflare's daily limits on D1 weren't good enough for me. Finally, I decided to move to a self-hosted API instead. Also successfully migrated all servers to @Hetzner_Online None of the DB service platforms are built to handle a high row-read load.

It's insane how fast openai moves. Was literally just building this at work earlier this year! I'll love trying this out!

A few Tuesday's ago I had the opportunity to present on my favourite topic and job for the last 2 years to a room of 150 people in Leeds - "LLMSecOps: Deploying LLMs securely to the internet" ๐ŸŽค This was at Community Stack's first conference in Leeds and the vibes were absolutely insane ๐Ÿ”ฅ! Massive thanks to @sumnerops and the Community Stack crew - already keen for round 2.

Three things to take away from the talk: - ๐Ÿ” Stack your auth. One API key check at the front door is nowhere near enough. You want different questions at every layer. - ๐Ÿ’ธ Budget what actually costs money. Rate limits don't work here - a 5-character prompt can burn 16k tokens of output. Count GPU-seconds or output tokens and check for budget before the model runs. - ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Own the safety stack. Self-hosted means there's no OpenAI content filter saving your bacon when the model says something nasty.

The bit that surprised most people was the unit economics. You bill in characters but spend in tokens. A user hands you 5 characters and you burn 10,000 of yours. Every request is basically a blank cheque the attacker gets to write. Deck is down in the comments if you want a flick through ๐Ÿ‘‡.

AI agents are the biggest threat to our modern internet infrastructure ๐Ÿšจ They can: ๐Ÿ‘‰ scan every port for a way in ๐Ÿ‘‰ fire every known CVE at your web apps ๐Ÿ‘‰ drain a vulnerable smart contract end to end An exploit can now be triggered unattended from an openclaw bot running somewhere ๐Ÿ‘พ The fix is boring but hard. Really, really hard. You're racing a machine ๐Ÿค–, so you close every gap before it does the looking for you: ๐Ÿฉน patch the known CVEs the bots fire first ๐Ÿšช shut the ports and endpoints you forgot were open ๐Ÿ”’ audit contracts before they ship, because there's no undo on-chain You can't out-run a bot. If your defence is a human hoping to catch the 3am pagerduty alert you've already lost ๐Ÿ’€
You can't understate the importance of security in web3. Everyday we're seeing: - huge exploits - smart contract breeches - social engineering In the age of AI, perhaps we have a new answer to these problems. Or maybe we have an even bigger issue. Check out this great talk from ColuxChain26 with Mudy Edogun, @thewritingdev and @murtuza_merc where they discuss this exact topic and more. 20 minutes of your time for a lot of learning about how AI is changing the game in blockchain - go give it a watch! youtube.com/watch?v=XcA8Y-yVโ€ฆ

Did Anthropic change the system prompt for Opus 4.6 today? The model is being super-precise and avoiding over-editing. I'm really enjoying this experience! CC: @trq212

This workflow fits quite well with how I use parallel code agents. I have to hack my way around this in Claude code by importing sessions created in another directory. If we had something like a /move in there that would be great! @trq212 But I'll defo be trying out opencode now! thewriting.dev/shipping-a-weโ€ฆ

we landed on a pretty good workflow for doing parallel work in OpenCode this demo is with git worktrees but i also preview an alternative we're working on at the end this will be in 1.6.0

97 in Writing. 91 in Speaking. I genuinely didn't expect these scores on my German B1 exam ๐Ÿซก. A year of studying while working full-time, and it actually paid off ๐Ÿ”จ Super grateful to everyone who encourage me to study and continue on with my language-learning journey. Especially to my family - @thematsci_gal @jshirish68 and my colleagues at DeepL. It's them and their language-learning journies that inspired me to keep on going! Will I do the German B2? Probably next year ๐Ÿ˜…. But I'll be experimenting with the French language till then!

What do you get when you put 25 community-focussed builders in a single room? You get the Looking For Growth West Midlands Hackathon ๐Ÿคฏ. The past Saturday I had the opportunity to fulfill one of my dreams - participating in a hackathon as a judge - and I couldn't have chosen a better one. It was hosted in the classy The Exchange | University of Birmingham venue. The winners were wild: ๐Ÿ† Ozzy - a live chatbot dashboard for a city's publicly available data ๐Ÿ† A Solar-to-Industry development map ๐Ÿ† Koan - a travel app built entirely around Warwick University students What got me was how specific every project was. Nobody built "another AI wrapper." Every team picked a real local problem and went after it. If you're running community hackathons outside London - keep going. This is where the next wave of builders is coming from. The vibes in the room were impeccable ๐ŸคŒ, everyone who couldn't be there should be highly jealous! A huge thanks to @lfg_uk team again for making the event possible!

All the participating teams were insane today. I had 3 teams on third place so had to rely on my co-judges! "Ask Ozzy" was absolutely nuts - custom dashboards and a chatbot built on Birmingham city data. Definitely want something like that for every city in England!
๐Ÿ† WINNERS Congratulations to Will, Charlie, and Deji, who designed "Ask Ozzy". It draws on all publicly available information for Birmingham and summaries the problems and solutions. Today we proved that You Can Just Do Stuff ๐Ÿš€

Do you trust your AI to run autonomously? I didn't. Until I stopped hand-holding it and started building better guardrails ๐Ÿค– Introducing the /ticket agent ๐ŸŽฏ Run "/ticket TICKET_ID" and your agent: ๐Ÿ‘‰ Builds the context ๐Ÿ‘‰ Writes a TDD plan grouped by functional commits ๐Ÿ‘‰ Writes the tests and the accompanying code ๐Ÿ‘‰ Generates a well written PR and returns it to you Check out my "Agent Skills" repo on GitHub to try it out - github.com/akash-joshi/agentโ€ฆ

Is this what they call Londonmaxxxing? This is what I'm doing within a 24 hour period: - Attended the MCP Connect ๐ŸŒŒmeetup (h/t @Infoxicador @rxShri99 @alpic_ai) - Staying overnight at Canary Wharf with great views ๐Ÿ™๏ธ - Giving the German B1 exam ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช
