Was autisming over the Zorawar for quite some time regarding the armour improvements and the consequent weight increase, so I thought about identifying the regions likely subject to the upgrade and trying to guesstimate their surface areas.

DRDO successfully demonstrated a multi-layered Ballistic Missile Defence system and conducted the maiden flight-test of the Naval Anti-Ship Missile–Medium Range, marking a major boost to India’s defence capabilities. The achievement places India among a select group of nations with advanced BMD capabilities. Raksha Mantri Shri @rajnathsingh congratulated @DRDO_India on this significant milestone. Congratulations 🎉 “Zorawar” is no more. Isreal has officially fucked the whole defense industry of India.

印度这个轻坦从外观看水平就不先进,搞出来主要是为了迎合莫迪的政治宣传,印军又不好直说这个坦克是个垃圾,只能找点借口推脱一下,毕竟真捏着鼻子用的话是真会死人的

Since everyone is talking the new protection requirements for Zorawar, it's worth looking at the BFL/KSSL light tank concept as well. It seemingly uses a big frontal armour block to cover some of the hull projections which is a somewhat relatively unique approach.

The manned turret with low profile seating (unlike Cock 105) is also very nice.

So the requirement for lvl 5/6 dart protection is indeed official. The Army wants better armour as told in this article. Who could have thunken that lvl 4 front, lvl 2 sides and 2B blast might just not be enough? 🙂 m.economictimes.com/news/def…
DMRL is working on 25 mm FSAPDS (STANAG level 5 "B") and 30 mm FSAPDS (STANAG level 6) protection for the Zorawar Light Tank. Current protection is level 4 front and level 2 rest.

My issue with Zorawar has always been the kind of rushed project it is. Their argument is that they want to make a system ASAP anyhow and do a 59-units run to supply that to the Army. After that they will practically remake the tank with all Indian parts for the larger tender.

Might also somewhat explain the new panels we saw in the recent L&T visit. x.com/i/status/2063295929688…

Not saying that this is 100% confirmed, but these new plates look substantially thicker (maybe <80mm). They're also clearly stacked; notice how the first plates on the LFP appear thicker than those on the UFP. Also first time I am seeing the fuel port armour installed.

This is not true. The Army actually and really wanted the Bhim, it was their own recommendation in the first place and they liked it very much. It was MoD's blacklisting of Denel which killed it.

They killed Bhim years ago and made it a purely import contest between Russian and South Korean solutions Looking at AAP, ATAGS etc, absurd to pretend DcPP wouldn’t have solved this Only for IDDM does requirement get broken up (light tank, artillery, CQB carbines etc)

Not a fan of this upgrade. I wonder how they are cramming all the stuff in an already congested space. We are talking about the commander's repeater display, his override stick, the tkn-3 thermal (missed opportunity to make the rcws one with it with apt mods) and other stuff.
