What's remarkable about Brunson is that he signed w the Knicks as a 25-yr-old who'd never scored more than 16 ppg. The Knicks built a title around a veteran free-agent literally no one thought could be the best player on a championship winner, and that NEVER happens in the NBA.

Criticizing Fox harshly is totally fair, it's the comparison to the younger guards that muddies things. I feel like you gotta judge Fox against the general expectation that he'd make better decisions and create points on his own more consistently. But yeah he's their only true PG

The peanut gallery wondering why Mitch stuck with Fox gonna be quiet on this one. Even with Fox’s scoring troubles, he runs the team better than Castle and Harper right now. And I say this as someone that hated the Fox acquisition.

the only lesson to take from these playoffs and finals is the same lesson it's been since forever: talent wins, money wins. you can't moneyball your way to a title. you either need to pay or draft top tier guys for the top-5, 6 of your rotation.

What's tough about the Iverson comp beyond style/personality/different eras is the elite supporting cast. Brunson is undeniable bc of the clutch performances/leadership but it's hard to imagine the Knicks reaching these heights without KAT, OG, and Bridges peaking simultaneously.

Lame and not true. Brunson is now one of the best small guards of all time and probably greater than Iverson. He’s not my favorite player to watch but come on… the nba is about great players showing up to win titles and he scored 45 on the road in a close out. Book is closed.

There's no way Mitch Johnson won't have that what-if in the back of his head unless and until they win a title, which is kind of the whole case for taking the risk.

I think this is a totally reasonable argument in like February. You cannot punt a Finals playing suboptimal lineups. The stakes are just too high, and I think we were headed for a trade or benching next year anyway. There’s no guarantee you’ll ever get back. Have to make it count

Yes. Not comfortable operating with his back to the basket at all yet, can only separate sometimes with dribble moves, and runs out of gas late.

As unbelievably tight as this series has been, the Knicks have shown in this series that they can survive for long stretches of time with KAT out and the Spurs struggle to survive *any* time that Wemby is out. And that's why the Knicks are the better team.

I don't hate Wemby (yet) like some of y'all. Dude is a totally anomalous 22 year-old human who wasn't ready yet and did everything he could to try to win. I can't begrudge that much. I latched onto the Knicks bc they're dope and fun and I like Brunson bc he's awesome. Good stuff.
