One of the most awe-inspiring places I’ve been. It is a stunning example of the way that modern architecture can don’t have to be depressingly utilitarian, but have the capacity to inspire wonder and overwhelm us with their beauty.

Yup. And it’s kind of crazy how this stereotype has shaped Protestant readings of our own history. When people like Edwards are regarded as crypto-Catholic, something has gone wrong . . .

Sometimes people are taught that Catholics believe in infused righteousness and Protestants believe in imputed righteousness. But this dichotomy is only applicable with regard to justification. The Reformed orthodox *did* have a doctrine of infused virtue wrt sanctification.

I examine how these challenges have been addressed by contemporary Christian thinkers, and how these set expectations about the theology of divine dominion that is possible under the conditions of modernity.
