7-7 does not really present a realistic scenario of actual football but…it’s great as a conditioning tool. The ratio of high speed decel to accel is through the roof compared to normal 🏈 practice, sprint distance isn’t going to accumulate much but you can fill a bucket of high intensity but sub maximal yardage. Really the second year of GPS with a team can begin to build actionable interventions from a macro perspective. BUT each and every day with information gathered leads to knowledge and micro interventions. People who say GPS isn’t a valuable tool either don’t understand how to pull the value, are not open minded enough to seek value or just don’t know anything about it as a tool. Don’t use it if you don’t want to…but don’t tell anyone who has used it in impactful ways it’s not a good tool. @PlayerData @StJamesFB

Behind almost every great football coach is another coach who: answered late-night questions gave them opportunities challenged them believed in them before anyone else did helped them survive the hard years Nobody builds a great program completely alone. The best coaches usually had a mentor who helped shape the way they lead today. πŸ’―

Yup
It’s a fun offseason topic and we’ll see some more 12- and 13-personnel, but the TE Revolution hype will underwhelm. Hard part about running heavier packages isn’t rolling extra TEs on the field. It’s having TEs truly worth putting out there. Versatile heavy sets are not a new concept. They can and have worked. A handful of teams will be successful with it, but most won’t. Gronk and Hernandez ain’t walking through many of those doors – no matter how many Nate Boerkirchers you overdraft.

I LOVE this! When FM was training at my house years ago this was my biggest message to him & all the other QBs here: Take Ownership of Your Offense! Always ask the WHY, challenge everything (in a good way) & when doing it, you always have to have the knowledge to back it up or it carries no weight! Very few QBs have the conviction to do this, afraid to step on toes & offend their coach or never gain the knowledge needed! There is only ONE person with ball in their hands when it matters, so you better be comfortable with what you are being asked to do! I also believe that any GOOD coach would want to talk about the WHY as much as possible & would welcome the challenge to DEFEND their WHY or find a BETTER way of doing something!
