Antony Sweeney and County legend Dave Conlon have joined Clint Hill in leaving Edgeley Park after Dave Challinor's departure last week. Sweeney joined the club last year after previously working with Challinor at Hartlepool Utd. Hill joined Challinor shortly after his arrival at EP in 2021 and won two league titles with the club. Updates on Jimmy McNulty's coaching staff to come over the summer. Dave Conlon departs after an official association with County of over 24 years. The club say "by far the biggest thank you goes to Dave, a man who has served the club with humility and distinction in various coaching roles dating back over 24 years and leaves having won three league titles during his time at Edgeley Park." Conlon: "I'd like to thank Mark and Simon for giving me the opportunity to work full-time for my hometown club. A massive thank you to all the players and staff, both past and present, as well as the incredible fans, for the support you've given me and my family throughout the years." “I’m gutted to be leaving, but together we've made memories that will last a lifetime." “I wish everyone connected with the club the very best for the future. Animo Et Fide.” Speaking for myself, Dave is a legend in every sense - proper County, a genuinely good person and has always had time to help everyone he comes across, including me when I've nagged at him for interviews over the years. He also took the team a few times in between managers and handled the time around Jim's departure, dealing with the media etc, with the utmost professionalism and class. Wish him all the best. 💙

Football remains the beautiful game but the men who run it are managing to severely damage its reputation and it looks like they will be pressing the accelerator throughout this World Cup. It is incredibly sad.

Rochdale AFC can confirm that Kyron Gordon will be departing the Club. The defender, whose contract expires this summer, has agreed to join Stockport County. It's felt a little inevitable in the last few days but I believe Dave Challinor will indeed be leaving #StockportCounty. Speaking for myself, it'll always be hard to replace a serial winner - whether that's in the form of league titles or securing play-off places as a minimum. Challinor will depart as the man who got County back into the EFL, with two league titles to his name. Two play-off final appearances, a Trophy final appearance and one play-off semi-final finish. Successive third place finishes in League One, and has never finished below fourth in five years with the club. A campaign of real adversity (with injuries etc) at times for club and manager, but both now look set for a fresh start. More to follow in the coming days.
