Excited to share our paper published today in @NatureEcoEvoshowing that dispersal ability is a key factor explaining sensitivity of bird species to forest fragmentation. nature.com/articles/s41559-0… A🧵(1/10)

If I survive past the end of term, I'll be heading to Edinburgh for #BES2022 where there'll be 5 talks by current and recent members of the lab. Get some of these into your schedule:

For anyone attending #BES2022, our lab has managed to wrangle five amazing talks, using functional traits in birds to answer questions about evolution and ecology at macro scales. We'll also all be at the @BESMacroecol SIG on monday eve if you prefer to chat over a pint šŸ»

Long shot but does anyone know someone with a room in Paris in May June? I was literally just awarded a scholarship to study birbs at the natural history museum in paris 🐦🐦🐦 But it's only 3.5 weeks away! So maybe twitter can come to my rescue #RetweetMe

Where on Earth is evolution fastest? We present evidence from bird beak evolution (& a meta-analysis) that evolutionary rates are typically fastest in the temperate zone, not the tropics #RapYourAbstract @JakeUno w/ @DolphSchluter @ja_tobias @tomlweeks onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/…

Excited for this special edition to finally come out, holding my first (2!) co-authored papers! An amazing avian trait database which I'm extremely proud to have been part of creating a delve into the differential rates of beak shape evolution along a latitudinal gradient!

I didn't expect this to synchronise with breakout of war and economic collapse, but some positive news for bird people: the global dataset many of you helped to collect is now finally released - onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/… - as part of a special issue onlinelibrary.wiley.com/toc/… #T10K
