How very tragically Russian. A Russian Rachmaninoff-playing child-prodigy pianist died from a hunger strike in a Russian prison while awaiting trial on charges over his anti-Putin comments. No one knew about his hunger strike until now. bbc.com/news/articles/cj35lk…

Jeremy Paxman: Parkinson's 'makes you wish you hadn't been born'. Well, after 18 years with it, I wouldn't go that far but I am impressed with and support the UK Parkinson's Charter. Patients in the US would benefit from the same. bbc.co.uk/news/uk-68795161

The honor shown for the remains of this enemy British soldier killed at the Battle of Camden, South Carolina comes from the understanding of concepts like Bravery, Courage, and Valor. The respect shown was uplifting. #SouthCarolina250 youtu.be/TmAJ5fBankE

Earth day is as inscrutable as groundhog day Do they celebrate a war's end, like independence day or armistice day? If so I understand Earth day for we can easily declare victory in our war on that planet. But I do not remember any large-scale skirmishes with groundhogs Are these religious holidays then Do they require a belief in their namesake gods of earth and groundhog Because of course I acknowledge the existence of the groundhog and must count myself a believer. He eats the roots of my flowers and mocks me with his toothy snare every Saturday morning As for the earth I am an agnostic. Other than my garden I rarely see earth any more. The world is a sandblasted morass of pavement and asphalt
