Quick update: the Polkadot upgrade will take place one week later, on the 27th of January. We decided to bundle this upgrade with a block time reduction to 2 seconds.

This month at the @StakingSummit in Buenos Aires I presented how @Polkadot Hub will remove many boundaries of yield strategies today and will unlock new DeFi use cases.
Polkadot is removing the ceilings that have limited yield protocols for a decade.
In this @StakingSummit presentation, Torsten from @paritytech shows how Polkadot Hub unifies staking, assets, and high-compute smart contracts, enabling strategies EVM-only chains simply can’t support.

With a PhD in Computer Science, Torsten’s background spans theoretical foundations, machine learning, and language models. He co-founded multiple startups before entering the blockchain space in 2017. As CTO at SatoshiPay and later co-founder of Pendulum, he helped build blockchain-based payment systems and cross-chain DeFi infrastructure. At Parity, he now leads smart contract development.

I was wrong about RISC-V: It is actually awesome, as it has huge scalability benefits
ETH is taking a great step forward in upgrading its VM!
RISC-V does NOT require specialised hardware; as the emulation cost is low (~30%)
