32 years ago today Commodore went bankrupt. It broke my heart at the time, without the Amiga I would never have achieved my dream. It opened doors in the industry for so many people. Here’s to all the crazy, passionate people that gave us the most beloved computer ever made 🍻

My #2 Amiga game of all time is Geoff Crammond’s The Sentinel. This for me is the most original game ever made, it was an inspired concept. I loved it on the C64 too, but for me it’s best on the Amiga because of the faster redraw, mouse controls and very atmospheric soundtrack.

Hired Guns was my #1 game on the Amiga, and one that is often overlooked when it comes to people’s Best Amiga Games lists. It was amazing with 4-players, and ahead of its time. I often think that if it had been released when the Internet was a thing it could have been huge.

Worms has had a significant cultural impact, becoming a staple in multiplayer gaming sessions, known for its replayability and the community it fostered. It has inspired numerous sequels and spin-offs over the years, but the original on the Commodore Amiga was groundbreaking.

The first review of Worms, in CU Amiga. They were big fans of the game. When we first showed them it, they kept the power on in their offices over the weekend so they could continue playing on the Monday after we had taken the disks away 💾

This was a real labour of love, and the version of Worms I’m most proud of. It’s when I feel the gameplay and humour really clicked, and introduced my favourite weapons: Super Sheep, Holy Hand Grenade and the Concrete Donkey. Still working on 1.5, but it’s proving difficult 😣

"Worms: Director's Cut" by Team17 for the Commodore Amiga was released in 1997. "From the team that brought you the award-winning "Worms" comes "Worms: The Director's Cut." It features over 300 colors on screen, a unique Graffiti mode to create your own levels, 15 new weapons, improved sound sets, and other extras." This version was made exclusively for AGA Amigas as a "Goodbye and thank you" from both Team17 and Andy Davidson. It sold only 5,000 copies worldwide, but the aim wasn't profit; it was about expressing gratitude to the community that gave Worms and Andy their big break. It's a true passion project and one of the Amiga's final great exclusives. What's your favourite crazy weapon from it? Share your Amiga Worms memories below and vote in the poll⬇️

For those in Wakefield, Worms is now exhibited in Wakefield Museum. It was an honour to see the game here, and I hope it can inspire the next generation of game makers out there.

Had a great time at @Team17 yesterday for the Worms 30th anniversary party. Everyone got a Concrete Donkey plush, which is one of the best things I’ve ever seen! Thanks to @jellyscare and everyone else involved for organising it. Here’s to 30 years more! 🪱
