We hosted a 2-day peer support training class this week in Nashville with 34 attendees from around the state. These attendees learned how to assist fellow co-workers with mental health and wellness issues. Thanks to all for attending.

It was a distinct honor to join the @tpffa1 at their 33rd Biennial Convention. @PaulBaileyforTN and I carried legislation that provides insurance coverage for firefighters suffering from PTSD. The legislation was named after fellow firefighters James “Dustin” Samples.

Brother James Muller, from #IAFF Local 5271 in Irmo, SC, made the ultimate sacrifice today, responding to a multi-alarm, mutual aid fire in Columbia. His family, friends, and brothers and sisters are in my thoughts and prayers.

The @RichlandSC Coroner has confirmed that one firefighter with @IrmoFire died as a result of the injuries he suffered in this fire. He was one of 7 total firefighters that went to area hospitals for injuries — 5 from @ColaFire & 2 from Irmo FD.
