Save our Arts & Humanities. Save our universities from these butchers. Our universities don't belong to these faceless heartless individuals. Our lives are enriched by the arts, and they are for everyone, not for the few.
🧵Today, government cuts to arts and humanities courses were confirmed by @officestudents
These courses face a 50% cut to their subsidies, which will make many unviable, forcing them to close

Unless I have woefully misread, this ad really takes the biscuit, given what is happening there ('one of the most dynamic departments of archaeology in the UK'.. I was told they were closing it??)

Why does he not defend a closely related discipline?

It appears the University of Sheffield's UEB are answerable to no one. They can conduct their business in any way they see fit with no comeback. In the meantime, our futures hang in the balance. I don't know how they sleep at night.

The students heard back from UREC: Policy Note 7 only "applies to research activities, where these are carried out by/within administrative departments of the University" and "does not apply to administrative or management processes within the University." (1/5)
