An extraordinary conference speech, the very best of the season, by a brilliant, Muslim, journalist. Fabulous analysis and wonderful, thoughtful, delivery.
My speech to the Conservative Party Conference on how to reverse the UK’s decline. I didn’t hold back. The state has grown in every sphere, almost without people noticing; a wild move to the left over two decades. Farage is a socialist (look at his actual economy policy!) who will take us further down this path. Only realism can save us. #CPC25

Not the official pic but much the nicest. Full of the King’s champagne and a ‘good’ lunch this is probably the only time Alan Brooke was caught smiling

We love FTT. They do such good work in breeding trees that will have both a high conservation value and also provide a return for the land manager when they mature. Well worth supporting!
CHOOSE IMPROVED: The following nurseries grows its own supply of trees from improved seed, which is supplied by Forestart Limited including Qualified Silver #Birch Wild #Cherry & #Sycamore. For more info; futuretrees.org/our-impact/

Is that not the wrong type of acacia, Simon? We use Robinia Pseudoacacia as treestakes - I think your photo is real Acacia (Wattle). Nonetheless, Robinia is extremely durable as well
Amazing #acacia is so strong it props up buildings. Safe to say it props up your #treeshelter for as long as will ever be needed! #treeplanting #woodlands

Over 5m young trees, ordered last autumn by forest managers in Scotland, now being burnt on nurseries. Abject failure between FMs and @ForestryLS to get planting schemes to the start line. These losses are unsustainable - please work it out! #whatawaste

That's a bit of a sweeping statement, Richard. We still have available good numbers of Beech, Oaks, Aspen, Alders, Willows, Haw and Blackthorn and smaller numbers of most other species despite many millions of B/Ls already sold. All UK grown
Tree planting season is upon us. The downside, there aren't any trees to plant. thecritic.co.uk/issues/novem…

Interesting discussion this morning: Will a bio tree shelter with guaranteed NO toxic residue whatsoever sell for a 50% premium price over the majority that are unable to offer this assurance? (assuming identical performance, of course)
