Nothing says “welcome back to the office for 2025!” more than someone pissing all over the toilet seat, a broken boiling water dispenser and second screens that aren’t working.
Local government finances are screwed - thanks to the double whammy of adult social care and temporary accommodation. A 10% council tax rise is no joke.
Newham town hall is blaming a £157 million budget gap caused by the spiralling cost of providing temporary accommodation for homeless residents standard.co.uk/news/politics…
So many systematic issues in society that need fixing - Newham alone cannot solve London's housing crisis, or reform adult social care, or deliver a more equitable local taxation system, or... or.... 🥲
10 years ago, I left the UK to travel the world for 8 months. What an unforgettable trip it was - 12 countries, 19 flights (89,906 km!), 3.4 million steps, 2,808 photos uploaded to flickr...
With hindsight of 10 years, I find it astonishing that I travelled for 8 months with just an iPad mini keyboard. Booking hostels/flights/trains/buses, note taking, research, staying up to date - all on a tiny 7 inch screen.
A very wet exploration of Southampton - impressed by the art galleries in the civic centre!
The medieval buildings next to post-war apartments is a bit discordant.
Loved this mural by Henry and Joyce Collins, formerly on a Sainsbury’s store.
I think they’re the same artists as the mural on Surbiton Sainsbury’s? It’s a very similar style.
Congratulations NYC! Here's to less congestion, funding for public transit, cleaner air and better cities!
(P.S. When is London gonna copy some of the NYC pricing...?)
Doing some work site visits this morning - I hate that Thames Water (and others!) don’t have to return a street to its original condition, leaving a giant scar in the public realm.
Enjoying listening to the Olympics opening soundtrack - a masterpiece by Victor Le Masne - combination of French house, 70s, movie soundtrack, pop, opera, metal… open.spotify.com/track/34K1Q…
