Texas parents deserve to know who is really in the driver seat when it comes to decisions that impact our kids who attend public schools. Spoiler alert: it’s increasingly NOT the elected leaders you would assume have the most say in curriculum and instruction.
An email from a Republican SBOE member highlighted questions over the relationship between the State Board of Education and Legislature. statesman.com/news/education…

Revealing comment from lead Texas book banner Bonnie Wallace. She says her crusade goes beyond sexual content to attempt to remove from schools “content that can permanently change the way of thinking of a child.” In other words, she’s at war with the whole idea of education.

This is so stupid. Demonstrably false. Holy Bible listed in the Wylie ISD McMillan Junior High catalog.
The Quran is in the library. The Bible isn't. And when students ask why, the principal hides. This is happening in Texas.

First, as pointed out yesterday: Bone was flat wrong in her initial post. She said Round Rock High School didn’t have a Bible in its catalog. It did. Her post has been shared almost 6000 times, and it’s based on a falsehood. She doesn’t care. x.com/frankstrong/status/204…

I bet this book mentions something about bearing false witness against your neighbor.

🚨SCANDAL in Round Rock ISD: High school libraries are stocking the Quran while the Holy Bible has been removed According to the district’s own online library catalog, the Bible is no longer available at Round Rock High School and Cedar Ridge High School — replaced by the Quran — while it remains in at least two of the five traditional high schools. This is the same Texas district that refused to allow Ten Commandments posters in classrooms and arrested two Christian fathers for simply speaking at a public school board meeting. @jeremywstory 🔴Muslim religious text is welcomed. 🔴The Bible — the foundational text of Western civilization and America — is censored. 🔴Christian parents are dragged away in handcuffs. This is not neutrality. This is blatant anti-Christian discrimination. ‼️Parents: It’s time to check your school libraries. Enough is enough. @AmyMek @xpistas @mayes_middleton @txvalues @MQSullivan

THE TPPF INFLUENCED RE-WRITE OF THE TEXAS SOCIAL STUDIES CURRICULUM IS A GRIFT, Y’ALL. And TPPF implied involvement with selecting literary works at the first meeting where the required reading list was discussed, too. 👎🏻 open.substack.com/pub/texass…

What’s happening to @NewBraunfelsISD libraries is not normal. franklinstrong.substack.com/…

This story is crazy-making. New Braunfels ISD is dramatically under-reporting the number of books removed due to Senate Bill 13 from its schools this year. In fact, this might be one of the biggest acts of censorship we’ve seen at @txfreedomread (🧵 link below)

From Kalyn Gensic: "I entered this profession just as the storm clouds of the current book-banning push were starting to gather, but I enrolled in a librarian program hoping it would pass over me like lamb’s blood was painted on my doorframe. ..." texasobserver.org/abilene-is…

Texas librarians, parents, and fighters for the freedom to read, you need to read this! This is what it looks like to be courageous in the fight for the freedom to read. Share your stories!
Out today: SB 13 neutered librarians’ authority over their collections. I no longer determine what goes into my collection. I make recommendations, and a council of parents called a School Library Advisory Council decides whether to recommend approval. texasobserver.org/abilene-is…

Hey @NewBraunfelsISD tell your maga conservative school board that book banning State Rep. @HicklandHillary thinks you all are foolish for over complying. And all the books you have removed should go back immediately!
Hey @grok, do these books violate SB 13?

What we’re finding isn’t surprising. After all, we repeatedly warned the state legislature that these laws would cause significant harm. But we’re never not astounded at the stupidity of what’s being removed from TX libraries. We’ll be sharing our findings over the coming months.
At @TXFreedomRead, we’ve undertaken a massive project (with an army of volunteers) sending public info requests to school districts to see how new laws like SB12 & SB13 are affecting what books are available in Tx schools. Y’all, it’s a lot. Follow us for upcoming bombshells.

I'm excited to share this interview I did with education researcher Jennifer Ervin about her work studying the impacts of educational gag orders and book bans on teachers. It gets right to the heart of how so many of us are feeling now: hypervisible, under attack. Link ⬇️

ICYMI: The State Board of Education chose not to vote on the proposed required reading list, pending more input from teachers & community members. This is great news: the board listened to us when we told them the list had many problems! texastribune.org/2026/01/28/…

“We’re just removing pornography from elementary schools!” My dudes, you’re censoring Plato from college classes.
From an email to one of our faculty members.... Not even Plato can escape censorship at Texas A&M!
