Two weeks ago, our President, Karrie Trauth, joined colleagues from across the global maritime community in London for the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA - @RoyInstNavArch) Annual Dinner 2026.
As a fellow organisation that regularly convenes industry to share insight and shape progress, we recognise the importance of moments like this in celebrating achievement, leadership and long-term contribution.
From the appointment of Annabelle Ransome-Williams FRINA as President-Elect of RINA to the recognition of this year’s RINA Awards winners, the evening reflected the depth of talent across naval architecture and beyond.
Congratulations to all those recognised, to keynote speaker Prune Bouillot for sharing valuable insights on ship design, decarbonisation and environmental stewardship, and to the RINA team for delivering such a memorable evening.

Thank you to the more than 200 guests who joined us in Edinburgh yesterday for our 2026 Summer Lunch. We hope you enjoyed connecting with colleagues from across the UK Chamber membership and the wider maritime community.
We were delighted to welcome Stephen Flynn MSP (@StephenFlynnSNP), Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Tourism and Transport, for his first address to the sector since taking on the new portfolio, followed by a passionate keynote from Gitte Gard Talmo, CEO of North Star. Both spoke powerfully about the importance of delivering an energy transition that works for people and the economy, while also focusing on how we can invest in and support the next generation who will shape the future of our industry.
Throughout the afternoon, we were also proud to support the vital work of Sailors’ Society, who continue to provide round-the-clock support for seafarers and their families around the world.

Shipping carries around 95 per cent of UK trade, keeping goods, energy and materials moving—often quietly and without much public attention. However, its strategic importance remains, with the sector central to national resilience, economic security and competitiveness.
Against that backdrop, on 27 May our CEO Rhett Hatcher joined leaders from across defence, government and the maritime community at The White Ensign Association’s Annual Maritime Seminar to explore the challenges shaping the industry.
The discussion reinforced a clear reality: resilience is built in advance, and shipping is fundamental to it.
