I think people have generally grown more conscious as time goes on. I think if you went back 4500 years and talked to ancient Egyptians they would mostly seem terrifically dull without much to say. But I can’t test that theory sadly

Been obsessed with this song the last couple of days and just realized Terry Reid passed earlier this month. Sublimely talented musician who took a unique trajectory that left him under-appreciated, but he still left us with some amazing songs. RIP

His naturally free and easy vocal timing and little subtleties always blow me away, as does the genre-mixing. Americana and folk elements, blues, R&B, country, but by the end of this song I’m convinced it’s primarily a gospel song.
