Beyond excited to see Fran Dunmore from @GOSA_GA present at the GA Literacy Council this week.
This slide said it all: parents are key partners in literacy. We are not on the sidelines, we are leading this push in the trenches.
We carry the stories. We demand better. Every child deserves to learn to read.

You know what no one talks about enough?
Parents are the ONLY constant in the literacy fight.
Governors change.
State admins change.
District leadership changes.
Parents don’t.
We are the historical continuity in the literacy world — and we’re not going anywhere until every child learns to read.

Georgia’s current literacy problems are reflective of the poor implementation of our literacy legislation.
We picked weak curricula.
We allowed too many options.
Training is inconsistent.
The screening → intervention pipeline is unclear.
Meanwhile, states like TN & LA made bold, unified choices—and it’s paying off.
Georgia’s kids deserve the same.

One of the few formal evaluations of MTSS in the US found that it actually made things worse in twice as many schools as it made things better: bit.ly/3Ja1ynN. My hunch is the crucial variable is the quality of teachers delivering Tier 2 and Tier 3.
