Sorry to bother you with yet another mental health post, but here it goes: I will try to make it less boring.
I don’t agree with diagnosing people with serious mental illness, such as bipolar, schizophrenia or schizophrenia-affective disorder.
I think it damages people who are affected. It takes their agency away.
I believe that my ‘psychoses’ were religious encounters, not an illness.
Meds do help! When it’s a small dose and a right fit.
But overall, the whole mental health system is a bit of disgrace.
We end up with our experiences being over-medicated, over diagnosed and despaired due to stigma.
I am not mentally ill. And so many others who struggle within modern mental health care.
It lacks compassion, empathy, holistic knowledge and puts a permanent label on people’s heads.
And there is no way out of it.
