🇮🇷 Iranian state-affiliated Mehr News says the draft U.S.-Iran memorandum includes several major economic concessions from the US, including certain steps to be taken before final negotiations begin on Friday. They include: 🔸Washington would suspend sanctions on Iranian oil and petrochemical exports and restore “full access of Iran to its financial resources” 🔸The draft separately calls for the release of $24 billion in blocked Iranian funds during a 60-day negotiating period, with $12 billion to be transferred before final talks start on Friday 🔸Mehr says the agreement would also require the U.S. and its allies to present an economic reconstruction plan for Iran worth at least $300 billion. Drop Site has not independently confirmed these details, and Iran and US have not published the final text of the MOU.

Following intensive talks, we are pleased to announce that the Peace Deal between the United States of America and Islamic Republic of Iran has been REACHED. Both sides have declared the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon. The official signing ceremony will be on Friday, 19 June in Switzerland. We would like to thank the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran for their commitment to finding a diplomatic solution to the conflict. We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to our brothers in this mediation effort, the great leadership of State of Qatar, for their support in reaching this agreement. I would also especially thank the visionary leadership of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Republic of Türkiye for their immense contributions in this regard. With the agreement now in place, mediators will facilitate a series of meetings this week. These pre-implementation discussions will lay the foundation for the technical talks and the official signing ceremony. @realDonaldTrump @JDVance @SecRubio @SteveWitkoff @SEPeaceMissions @drpezeshkian @mb_ghalibaf @araghchi

The US & Iran are to sign a deal today that not only will end their war but also impose a ceasefire between Lebanon & Israel. So this is what Israel did to Beirut sabotage Trump's attempt at peace. And Israel will do more sabotage unless Trump imposes a cost on Israel.

I have fought the neocons and warmongers in Washington for more than 25 years. Throughout, they have tried to silence, discredit, slander, and cancel me. Only recently, however, have they tried to deport me. At least, that appears to have been the aim of a hit piece in Bari Weiss’s The Free Press, which claimed that Marco Rubio’s State Department was “investigating” me for allegedly seeking to “undermine the U.S.”—presumably because of my opposition to war with Iran. Yet just hours later, the State Department issued a statement to reporters clarifying that “the State Department has no plans to revoke the green card of Mr. Parsi at this time.” Nor did it provide any confirmation for the central premise of the Free Press story—that an investigation of me existed in the first place. So here’s what I think happened. Read the full piece on my Substack: tritaparsi.substack.com/p/so…

More important to know: The fishing boat which had gone near an Italian ship had no identification and was classified as a threat and fired. Manmohan Singh Govt showed its might and Italian Marines were Jailed. After Narendra Modi became PM, they went home and never returned.
Replying to @sidhant
Important to know, of the 3 vessels, 2 were sanctioned- black/ grey ships. Its also reported that these ships switched off Automatic Identification Systems, especially when it is known, that area is under blockade. Indian nationals becoming collateral of a regional crisis.

Misleading terms: "Disabled" "non-compliant" ships that "violated blockade" - instead of "targeted ships designated non-compliant by US, and violated USN blockade, killing 3". P.S. Gulf of Oman is in Indian Ocean, part of Indo-Pacific framework of India-US cooperation

For more than 2 decades MEA maintained a dazzling online library on India's journey from 1948-49 to 1999. From Nehru to Vajpayee. From Indira Gandhi to IK Gujral. The collection has vanished without any explanation. Great loss for academics, journalists general people worldwide.
Brajesh Mishra's remarks on '74 n-test, Indira-Mujib Declaration of March 19, 1972; birthday of MEA; Guests list at 1955 Bandung conference and many more gems of India's diplomatic past probably lost forever as mealib.nic.in remains down and out without repair.

This gets worse. So not only did the US Navy fire two missiles and kill three Indian sailors they refused to rescue the 24 Indian crew despite saying they are on fire, the vessel is sinking and that they are an all Indian crew. The Omanis rescued them.

Iran MFA spokesperson:
The brutal U.S. attacks on Indian commercial vessels which have killed at least three Indian nationals, stand as clear evidence of America’s ongoing policy of armed robbery and State piracy. We extend our sympathies to the families and friends of the slain Indian sailors and offer our sincere condolences to the Indian people and government. The international community must hold the United States accountable for its lawless conduct, which continues to threaten global peace and security while endangering the freedom of navigation.

I take the criticism of this tweet. In hindsight, while the points made are logical, the overall tweet is tone deaf and doesn't at all reflect the outrage that many feel on the attack on Indian nationals in what are international waters. I recognise this entirely.
While the loss of Indian lives is a huge concern, its worth looking closely at the circumstances of the attacks on each of the 3 vessels which have been targeted in the Strait of Hormuz: ✴️The area is currently an active conflict zone with ongoing hostilities and heightened tensions. ✴️An armed naval blockade has been put in place to restrict and control all maritime movement in the region. ✴️Ships attempting to run past this blockade face real and serious danger from enforcement actions by naval forces. ✴️Despite these clear risks, the three ships still chose to evade and slip past the blockade. ✴️All three ships deliberately switched off their AIS systems to avoid detection by tracking authorities and other vessels— This is against standard international shipping protocols and safety rules. ✴️All three vessels involved are foreign-flagged ships operating under non-Indian registries. ✴️In the meanwhile, I am told 13 Indian-flagged ships continue to be stationed in the Persian Gulf. These appear to understand and respect the danger at hand. ✴️11 Indian ships returned home after they received proper clearance to depart safely.
