I just had a chance to read through Canada's new national AI strategy, and below are my quick reflections.
Overall, the strategy is "spending heavy" (with less innovative regulatory approaches), almost like sending an "AI sovereignty" signal to the US.

Yesterday, a stakeholder confirmed she has not seen any of the alleged newer drafts. The engagements have been verbal.
So we are discussing a bill that affects everyone, but the people being consulted have not even been given the updated text to read for themselves?
This is not how serious countries make law. We deserve better.

It's been several months working with the incredible team at @HopinAcademy to co-found, with @McCth, the first AI Lab in Northern Ghana - @NorthernAILab, to close the growing North-South AI divide within Ghana.
