A reminder from @neilpatel that longer queries from users is a revenue driver in the search space.
26 Aug 2025
Here is how keyword length affects revenue. We looked at over 1 million leads collected by businesses to determine the types of keywords generating the most revenue. And we wanted to see this data over time. It’s clear that search is shifting and users are typing in longer queries, which are driving a larger chunk of a company’s revenue.

(NEW) Google updates page about image SEO best practices 🙂 "Google can find images in src attribute of <img> element (even when it's a child of other elements, such as the <picture> element). Google doesn't index CSS images."

If you use Cloudflare, here's how to block AI bots, scrapers, and crawlers with a single click, and it's free. 👇
Cloudflare has launched a new feature to block AI bots, scrapers, and crawlers with a single click, and it's free. As AI crawlers continue to swallow up web content, this tool helps protect your content from being used without consent. Many AI crawlers ignore robots txt exclusions or spoof their user agents. Up until now, the robots.txt file has been fairly reliable in helping control bots, but data shows that AI bots don't seem to honor that system. Why Use This? 🤖 Prevent unauthorised use of your data for AI training. 🤖 Reduce maintenance of robots txt file. 🤖 Automatically blocks new bots identified by Cloudflare. Top AI Bots Seen on Cloudflare: 🕷 Bytespider - TikTok (40.4% of sites accessed) 🕷 GPTBot - OpenAI (35.46% of sites accessed) 🕷 ClaudeBot - Anthropic (11.17% of sites accessed) Not all websites will want to block AI bots and crawlers, but for those who do, this is an easy one-click solution with little maintenance required.

The current Google AI Overviews iteration has been bad UX and CX. @neilpatel is sharing that Google has reduced AI presence in search results to less than 15% in the United States.
9 Jun 2024
If you have a bad product, you must act quickly before it hurts your brand. It's what Google is going through right now with AI Overviews. They tried so hard to push it on us... but a lot of the results aren't great, and for many queries, it isn't really needed. At one point, AI showed up for 84% of the search results on Google. Now, it's just 15% according to BrightEdge. It's great to innovate, but make sure you put useful stuff out. Don't just try to ride a trend, make sure whatever you do is the best experience for the user. Just think of Apple... they don't rush to put stuff out, but when they do put something out it usually is amazing.
