>anon acknowledges the relevance of fable 5
sooo what happens when we get some Fable-level open-source shit in the next 3-6 months? GPU bans, moving goalposts, or some secret third thing? 🤔

Amber glass world is real
22 Jan 2025
Reject unnecessary cheap mass produced ornamentation, embrace function first living spaces with a shit ton of diffused lamps made out of random industrial amber glass from the 60s.

The same Nvidia chip in Tesla's autopilot is in the Nintendo Switch. Hackers went after the Switch first, leaked the bootrom source code to GitHub, and posted it publicly. When researchers came for Tesla they already had Nvidia's own code to work from. Two completely different industries but one chip. The car and the gaming console shared a root of trust and the gaming community broke it first.
The Nvidia chip inside Tesla's autopilot has a hidden bootloader disabled by fuses before the car ships. Researchers glitched the power rail at exactly the right moment to re-enable it. Full code execution >> Highest privileges >> All firmware decrypted >> Decryption keys extracted. The car that's supposed to drive itself(FSD) had a manufacturer backdoor baked into the silicon. Disabled by a fuse and defeated by a voltage spike.
Community note
This 2021 vulnerability affects only Tesla Autopilot Hardware 2/2.5 using Nvidia Tegra X2 chips, not current FSD Hardware 3/4 with custom Tesla SoCs. The hidden bootloader is a manufacturer test feature, not a backdoor. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tesla_Aut… researchgate.net/publication/35…

a frontier lab would be a net positive, just on competition basis alone eu cant do it though, vcs are too broke and a lot of innovation just relies on eu grants that made a whole industry of.. getting an eu grant not to mention how academia and high status signaling is still a thing despite the irrelevance

basically the US govt is advocating for security by obscurity - if haxx0rs don’t have the tools then the infra is safu type logic

HPC is cool and all - clearly scale needs skill undeniably but there also is BIG intel in desktop computing for sure

I like to hear the hum of my desktop PC otherwise it’s wasted potential

56,000 tokens/sec at just 80 MHz. 🤯 I burned a full Transformer with KV cache into a custom chip. Designed gate by gate as a 100% digital integrated circuit. Prototyped on a FPGA. (No GPU. No CPU) Just pure digital silicon running @karpathy microGPT, spelling out names on a tiny LCD. This is GateGPT 👇
