whilst gpt-4.5 isn’t crushing benchmarks the way some expect, its quiet strengths in factual accuracy, mmlu pro, creative writing, persuasion, and nuanced world modeling are quietly signaling a new kind of breakthrough. these models won’t have the ultra high 300 iq meticulous reasoning of something like o3. but that’s not the point. the unlock is their ability to translate high level intelligence into something beautifully human and relatable. when reasoning models become so advanced they’re beyond us, we’ll turn to these feynman-like explainers. models closer to the movie ‘her’ experience than any o3 mini pro max ultra. think of it this way. if o3 is the cracked, caffeine-fueled, 300-iq engineer autist who’s scribbling equations no one else can parse, gpt-4.5 is the soft-spoken elegance of a feynman, casually turning those cryptic scribbles into insights you can feel in your bones. one impresses you; the other moves you. i’ll take elegance every time.
