For about the last decade, the BBC has been chasing one particular audience; 16-35s. They imitated everyone else catering to that audience, and cut back on the kind of programmes that used to make the BBC distinctive, for all ages. It hasn't worked; the death spiral continues.

Israeli outlet Israel Hayom reports, in a claim not yet echoed by other major outlets, that President Trump is weighing the dismissal of several senior administration figures who opposed the Iran deal, including Defense Secretary Hegseth and CIA Director Ratcliffe.
“The argument has been settled. Those who opposed it may pay a personal price,” a senior U.S. official was quoted as saying about the behind-the-scenes turmoil.
According to the report, Secretary of State Marco Rubio appears to be safe for now.

For those wondering the visa bond implemented by the Trump admin against Cape Verde is $15,000 per person. Many players in this tournament are here without family or personal support because they literally cannot afford the visa.

At anniversaries I try to be optimistic about the future. But not this time. In the ten years since she was killed we have gone backwards & I fear our democracy is now at risk

Europe has already cut its energy bill by 29% but nobody talks about it.
EU energy use in 2024: 854 Mtoe. Without efficiency gains since 2000 it would have been ~1,103 Mtoe. That's energy nobody had to generate, import or pay for.
