FROM THEORY TO PRACTICE
Participants of the WASCAL–GERICS School have reached an exciting milestone as they move from theory to hands-on climate training. After building a strong foundation in class, they are now applying real tools to real challenges across West Africa.
WASCAL and GERICS have launched the 2025 Winter School in Ouagadougou, training 40 professionals in cutting-edge climate tools, from drones and remote sensing to IoT data systems and climate services.

At #cop30 WASCAL reaffirmed its leadership in climate science, capacity development, and regional cooperation. One key highlight was a special session on “Advances in Climate Research and Service Delivery in West Africa,” featuring invited experts and WASCAL’s Executive Director.

WASCAL unveiled its 2026–2030 Strategic Plan, as part of its commitment to West Africa's #climateresilience. Executive Director, Prof. Emmanuel Wendsongre Ramde presented a renewed vision and mission, in scientific excellence, innovation, and service.
WASCAL opened its #COP30 participation with a renewed drive to push #climateaction forward in West Africa. Its first side event, held at the ECOWAS Pavilion in Belém, Brazil, focused on “Advances in Climate Research and Service Delivery in West Africa.”
