Did you know you could write entire #csharp programs just by using the "await" keyword? OK, well not really, but I spent some weekends developing AwaitFuscator: A (dumb) #obfuscator that turns your #dotnet program into nothing but "await" expressions! 👉blog.washi.dev/posts/awaitfu…

This is actually a very well-explained beginner series on #dotnet #reversing. We need more good beginner-friendly sources like these.
🧩 Video 2 in the .NET obfuscation series is now public! youtu.be/6rcUxmRGhlg In this video we'll explore the Global Module Constructor (.cctor) to analyze the impact of anti-debugging and anti-tamper protections.

You can call me a "nerd" that's fine. Making a mistake is also fine! Unnecessary sensationalism is not fine. You have a big following. I'm asking you to be responsible with it.

UPDATE: our work won a best paper award 🏆 @NDSSSymposium! Check out our work on establishing the first measurements for understanding how LLMs are changing reverse engineering. Shout out to the whole team from @SCAI_ASU, @EURECOM, and @UniPadova
Do LLMs actually help hackers reverse engineer and understand the software they want to exploit? We ran the first fine-grained human study of LLMs reverse engineering. To appear at NDSS 2026. Interested? Some quick findings in 🧵👇 Paper: zionbasque.com/files/papers/…

Over the past couple years, I have come to know the #dotnet platform pretty well, from a developer's and a #reversing standpoint. I can’t always say the same the #infosec community. Today, I decided to rant a little (or maybe a lot 🙃) 👉 blog.washi.dev/posts/misconc…

Maybe noob question. Why do we care whether malware was created with help of AI? I see people talking about it like it matters a lot, but for us defenders, it's still just code that you can reverse/write rules for, no? Besides, it's not as if most malware wasn't slop already..🙃

Better late than never, I finally managed to finalize my #flareon12 write-ups😄 Overall, it was a fun set of challenges and the latter ones a reminder of how much I still have to learn in the field of RE :). 👉 blog.washi.dev/posts/flareon… 👉 washi1337.github.io/ctf-writ…

A reoccurring question I keep seeing in my DMs (also during this #flareon12) is "hey I tried [insert LLM model] but it didn't work. Now what?". It's unsettling to me. If (security) people can't think or do research themselves anymore, I think we're gonna have a problem.

#flareon12 finally in the bag. What a rollercoaster ride challenge 9 was. Reminded me of a certain reoccurring DEFCON CTF challenge, iykyk :) A bit sad that chall 7 was the only one that really felt it was malware related, but nonetheless, I immensely enjoyed this year!

Unfortunately, the #flareon12 unlocked early yesterday and some players got a head start. This will not effect the final standings as deltas will be applied to the player's final solve times (if they finish) to reflect the early access they received.

Timezones are hard, FLARE-On is harder! Apologies, challengers – #flareon12 had an unintentional early start. To keep things fair for everyone, we are pausing the competition. We're evaluating the situation and will provide an update around 10 AM ET.
