Mass Audubon's jewel on outer Cape Cod, the sanctuary has 5 miles of trails through barrier beach, salt marsh, ponds, pine woods, and grassland. Lots of birds!
2:08; 3:16; 4:12 2/26 It's hatching! What we see begins with a single pip (or hole) in the egg as the chick begins to work its way out of the egg. The chick starts to breathe external air through these cracks, this encourages it to make more. Watch live: AllAboutBirds.org/Cahows
Three generations chilling on a bench at a place known to us as Heaven on earth @wbws Another one of those places where Cape Cod isn’t Cape Cod without it. @MassAudubon
Today, 79 rehabilitated #SeaTurtles were flown to facilities in NY, NJ & FL to continue their recovery! With lots of cold-stunned turtles stranding on Cape Cod, the transport makes room for new arrivals to our Sea Turtle Hospital. There, our team has cared for nearly 400 so far!
You never know what's going to wash up on the beaches of Cape Cod. My eagle-eyed 5-year-old just spotted this guy, a cold-stunned Kemp's ridley turtle, the world's most endangered sea turtles. We called it in, and someone from @MassAudubon came to rescue it and take it to @NEAQ.
Wellfleet Bay Audubon Sanctuary worker Jess Ciarcia measures a cold stunned loggerhead turtle during an exam after being recovered about a mile up the beach at Sandy Neck ahead of the incoming tide on Thursday morning. The animal weighed 36 pounds. @capecodtimes

Our #WednesdayMotivation is our sea turtle rescue team and our partners at @wbws who work around the clock to #SaveSeaTurtles! These wonderful folks rescued 16 cold-stunned turtles from local beaches. The turtles are now being treated at our hospital.
Our first cold-stunned sea turtles of the fall have been recovered! This is our volunteer Tim O'Brien at Brewster's Breakwater Beach with the folks who found a live Kemp's ridley this morning. This turtle is heading now to the New England Aquarium for medical care and rehab!
Lincoln's Sparrows are very secretive during migration and can be a tough bird to see, but they are strikingly crisp when you actually get a good look at one, having it in the hand certainly helps.
Yellow-breasted Chats are a hard to classify species. They mimic calls, so they may be mimids, they are yellow and green, so they may be warblers, the spectacles, coloration and attitude suggest Vireos, but the DNA suggests accentors (an old world group). What do you think?
Cape May Warblers see huge population fluctuations based upon Spruce Budworm outbreaks. The population is currently WAY UP and this week may be your best opportunity to see one on Cape Cod in the last 10 years.
Our first Wilson's Warbler of the season is a dapper Hatching-year Male. This species always reminds me of Colorado where they breed in the high country willow marshes and beaver ponds.
This Cape May Warbler is only the 6th individual caught in Wellfleet Bay’s history! This hatch-year male also has an interesting deformity — notice the slightly crossed bill. #CapeMayWarblerInCapeCod

Enjoy the New England Aquarium's terrific story of saving "Munchkin", the 300 pound loggerhead that we and the NPS rescued on Great Island in Wellfleet last November. Happy to report Munchkin is looking... facebook.com/MassAudubonWell…
Though Black-capped Chickadees are non-migratory, many warblers will follow them when foraging. As a "nuclear" species in mixed-species foraging flocks, chickadees are watchful for predators like hawks and owls, and shout graded alarm calls that signal the level of danger nearby!
